stop this train… I can’t take the speed it’s movin’ in

Too many “goodbyes” already.

Even the “see you soon” words are disheartening.

And I have one more week to go as people slowly head back home, back to school, back to where they need to be.

Some I know I will see again. Others, I just can’t be sure.

It’s going to be an emotional ride.

laughter really is the best medicine

08_14_06“You can’t deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.” — Stephen King

Today was just one of those days.

The brain was overworked from jamming too much information in and trying to make sense of it all at the same time. There was so much work to do and so much to do at once.

It was one of those days when the brain just begins to work upside down. And when that happens, every little thing becomes hilarious.

This is just like what happens to most people during exam time. You’ve been studying so much that you feel like your head is going to explode, and as a result, any sensibility and maturity that you may usually have is lost within the clutter of information.

This picture is from a month ago, but the same scene played out this afternoon.

Good times :)

if only it could all be so easy

08_13_06I met up with Karen yesterday for dessert and conversation. It’s been two years since we have had the opportunity to sit down and talk properly. We’ve met up a few times here and there, but never had a chance to really catch up. The two of us are always on the move.

It’s so funny how with some friends, you can not talk for two years but the minute you’re back together you pick up the conversation just where it left off, as if you hadn’t missed a beat.

These are the friends you know will be around for forever. There are handful of those in my life and I love them very dearly.

It hurts to think of those who had the potential but chose to walk down a different path. But then I remind myself that life is like that and you must take what you can, and remember the rest with fondness and an understanding that everything happens for a reason.

That reason will present itself in time.

waiting on the world to change…

When someone is upset or stressed, even if it doesn’t seem like it will help, I always want to hug them. I couldn’t explain it to a friend the other day and just said that while it seemed useless, it was all I could do.

John Mayer, talking about something unrelated, said:

“You want to put your arms around them, because their troubles aren’t deserved.”

That’s precisely it. Even if wrapping my arms around someone won’t make the situation any better, maybe my hug will let them know that I understand and that I would do anything to make those troubles go away…
