that’s just the way it is

Unlike those in England (and probably a few other countries), we only get Good Friday and the rest of the weekend off for Easter.

And yes, I’m actually going home.

*the audience gasps*

In reality, this is the one time I actually shouldn’t be because I have so much work to do (ie. two essays, and one presentation… and for the week after, two more essays…and after that, exams!). But then, if I don’t go home now, I don’t know when I’ll be home next. That’s because I’m taking summer courses, and I don’t know what’s going on the few days in between exams and when summer school starts…

Anyway, I really want to meet up with friends in M-Ham (lol) some night… either Friday night or Saturday night. I feel sick even asking that because I know I really should be doing work instead (soooo much to do…*whimpers*) but still.

Right now, I’m packing up some stuff, and cleaning up a bit. I’m going to do some work and then go to class, etc. My only frustration right now is that I have no clue when I’m leaving. I’m either leaving anytime tonight or tomorrow morning. And if I’m leaving tomorrow morning, then I want to see a movie tonight! Even if I’m leaving tonight, if I’m leaving late then I can still go out. So….. *stares at the phone* I’m waiting for my brother to call and let me know.

Alright, back to work…

grrrr…

I had a great day today.

I had two nice long walks in the nice weather (to and from campus), was very productive (got a lot of work done), went to all my classes, came back to find the boys playing soccer and joined in for an hour (after a very long day of working on campus)….. and found out that we’re hanging out tonight and going to have fun (playing darkroom! yes…we’re 19 & 20 year-olds who love this game).

But then, I went to get money from the bank (I owed my roommate phone bill $) and the stupid machine ate my card!!!

I’m bitter… my good days can never entirely be good. Bah humbug.

On the whole: nice day :D Hope yours was good…

(trying to forget about the card thing…and the hassles it’s going to take to get it back…blech)

(ah yes, and I refuse to give up my current trend of using parentheses)

it’s the simple things in life we forget

Easiest way to make someone’s day turn from bad to good (or at least, add a little bit of sunshine in there)?

Give them a nice big hug.

It’s as simple as that.

(to be honest, I think everyone should get a hug at least once a day…but unfortunately that doesn’t happen…’tis very sad.)

pass me a paper and pen

Like last year, I never feel as much pride for my own culture as I do on Wicsa weekend. The culture show is absolutely awesome and the spirit squads are just as amazing. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, once a year our university hosts this huge culture show where South Asian students from universities across the region compete in dance performances. Hundreds of people from each school come as members of that school’s spirit squad and each squad competes against the others to see who has more spirit (ie. lots of screaming, signs, lights, etc).

I think that this year was even better for me, just because I ran into so many old friends… one who I hadn’t seen since the last day of high school and I almost started bawling when I saw her.

We had tickets to the official after party, which was fun. The entire day was a long one and so it was my only day off from work in a long time… but now I have to get back to it.

Now, in regards to the title of this post: starting Friday, my throat was getting itchy. And yesterday morning, it was hurting. By the end of the culture show (where I was blowing a whistle like mad because I couldn’t scream anymore), my voice was really scratchy and quiet. By the end of the night, I couldn’t talk anymore because of the pain.

This morning, I’m croaking about again and I’ll probably lose my voice sometime.

I’ve been good with the ’sign’ language while talking to my friends, but they all still think I need a paper and pen. And as one coolio friend said ( ;) ) I’d probably just have “hahahaha” on it most of the time.

And that is so true. :D

( )

I just noticed that I use parentheses a lot in my writing here (it’s because I always feel the need to add an extra comment).

Ha!

to be positive

Yay for:

- Liverpool winning today and moving onto the Champion’s League quarter finals (I listened to the commentary live and screamed my ass off…good times)!
- U2 finally announcing second-leg tour dates (that include Toronto shows…I jumped about and danced like a crazy person)!
- Elton John (coming to Toronto too)!

and… that’s about as positive as I can be right now… *sigh*

(gotta love the no-substance posts)
